Fatal Tide was awarded the Special Jury Mention (and and Adventure Travel nomination) at the Banff Mountain Book Awards—the Oscars for Outdoor writers. The the words of the jury, the book is “a tragic story which is sensitively and subtly told from both personal and political perspectives. It combines a smooth and effortless narrative and strong characterisation underpinned by a gripping documentary style which is both accessible and engaging.”
Thursday, October 23rd
Censorship and the Arts. David will talk and participate in a panel discussion with Dr. Allan Antliff and Mr. Alain Pineau at the Public Issues Community Forum, University of Victoria. Admission is free, but you must call 250-472-4747 to register to guarantee and seat and confirm the location. From 7:30pm-9:30pm.
Wednesday, September 24th
David will be giving a reading, talk
and Q &A about Fatal Tide and cold-water safety, for a
meeting of the South Island Sea Kayaking Association,
Victoria, B.C., Saanich Commonwealth Pool.
Saturday, September 20th
David will be reading from Fatal Tide at
the opening ceremonies of the new North Vancouver Civic Library, B.C.
Monday, September 8th
